Books or Movies?

Who doesn’t love a good movie or book, buy what happens when those books are turned into movies as so many of them are?

Now whether it is a classic like the Shawshank Redemption or a modern classic like the Chronicles of Narnia, there are hundreds of movies that have been turned into books. However we all know that in most cases the books are better!

A book I haven’t read in a long time; Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. This book was epic, it was your typical British teen romance disaster. The movie they made was just as good as the book, the characters were portrayed by “normal” imperfect people and this in my eyes is what made the movie and equal to the book.

Another success in my eyes was Sleepers. This was not for the faint hearted and had plenty of triggers in both the book and movie. Set in New York where a group of young boys accidently kill a man, the book and the movie both portray their time in prison and their justice so perfectly. I wouldn’t recommend this for any young readers but if you like a godfather style theme then this is definitely for you.

One failure in my eyes has to be Fifty Shades of Grey. I mentioned this in one of my earlier posts but I wanted to go over it again. The books were amazing, the story was told so well, when the movies came out I was so disappointed. Half of the first story was missing and a lot of the little details from the book that would have made the story tie together more in the movie were just not there. It made no sense, if you hadn’t read the books it would have just been a really jumbled movie but having read the books so many times the movies just made no sense. Now this is nothing against anyone this is just my opinion after waiting so long for the movie I was a little deflated after watching it!

I could babble on for hours and pages about what books made good movies and which ones didn’t but you would get bored of reading that.

If you have any good book to movie transitions you want to recommend feel free to reach out and let me know!
