So Thursday night it came to me on what I had been craving and in life there is nothing more addictive then Crack! No I don’t mean what you think, I mean the crunchy, chewy, chocolate goodness that comes once a year at Christmas!
Now I had never heard of this until I had visited Canada for Christmas, whilst still living in England. Anyone who knows me is aware of my love for salty and sweet combined; chocolate pretzels, a bag of salty chips dipped in Nutella, a bag of chips followed by a chocolate bar or even just plain pretzels dipped in Nutella, don’t judge me!
So when I was first offered this strangely named food I was not hesitant to dive right in and try it and man was I in love! It was sooo good I couldn’t stop eating it!
Who would think that something so simple with four ingredients could bring so much joy to a person but it did. So now every year when the weather turns colder it is my go to home made snack!
So today I decided I was going to bring some happiness and joy to myself, and to you, by making this recipe and sharing! Now I can’t take all the credit today as I got the hubby to help, if you call laying on the kitchen floor with our puppy helping anyway!
Now if I was a selfish person I could leave it here and not post the recipe, but as I love spreading joy through food I have to share it even if I can’t take credit for it. So here is the recipe I use:
Ingredients:
- Two strips of saltine crackers (or a bag of pretzels)
- 1 cup of butter
- 1 cup of packed brown sugar
- 2 cups of chocolate chips (I use milk chocolate but you can use any)
- Optional toppings of choice from reeses, sprinkles, salt, crushed candy canes etc
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 325°

Put the tray into the oven for 7 minutes, do not freak out if your Caramel expands!

I would recommend storing this in the fridge in a container as it does melt easily, that’s if you can resist it long enough to store it!
